Book Fair! - Dec. 9th-13th

Our first Scholastic Book Fair is just around the corner!

December 9th-13th

It's the most wonderful time of the year! The excitement is palpable and students have been asking since September, "When is the book fair?" Well, in just a couple of weeks classes will get to come visit the book fair during their weekly library time! Families and neighbors will have the opportunity to come shop the fair after school every day.

The book fair is a fantastic way to support a love for reading and raise funds for our school!

Many of us have childhood memories of going to a book fair with the money from our piggy banks and the excitement of getting to buy our own books, erasers, posters, diaries, and pencils. (And I’m positive our parents were less than thrilled with some of our choices, too.) That same excitement can still be seen and felt when students at Hamilton visit the book fair!

Besides being a great way to foster a love for books, the Book Fair is also a great opportunity for our students to use their math skills in calculating totals and tax (with a little help here and there). Middle school students who volunteer after school count change and help younger students make choices within their budgets.

Adults can enjoy the fair too! We always need volunteers (approved CPS Level 1 or 2) to make the Book Fair happen. Be on the lookout for opportunities to be shared soon!

With the money Hamilton earns from our book fairs, we are able to buy new books for our library as well as for our classrooms, teachers, and students. We’ve also been able to add new shelving, a new rug, and a book return bin to the library! Thank you!!!

Flyers and more information will be sent home with students after our November break.
