Student Lead School Enhancements

By Alex Beryozkin, SVC Co-Secretary

The SVC (Student Voice Committee) main focus is to have students involved in decision making. With our first grant fund we decided to buy supplies and a whiteboard for our school library, which will be available for all grades to enjoy. We want to continue to have students input to make positive changes that will benefit students, staff and our school.

It is important for all students to participate in completing the surveys, as that is what we use when making our decisions on where and what to spend our grant money. We hope to make many more improvements in the future with all of your suggestions. Our first grant was a success as we were able to get books for all grade levels pk to 8th grade and whiteboards for our library.

The Student Voice Committee for the last couple months has been working very hard to enhance our learning spaces. We started with a student survey to see what the students wanted to change about our school. Based on the survey results we decided on enhancing our school library. After the decision was made on how we would utilize the grant, we filled out a grant request form to receive the money for supplies and books for our school library.

We would like to thank our Administration Team for helping us order the supplies and books for our school library. A huge shutout to our librarian Mrs. Sanders for helping us identify which books should be ordered. Last but not least a big thank you to all the students who participated and made their voices heard.

It is the Student Voice Committees (SVC) objective to make our voices heard and be an important part in decision making on school improvements.
