Calling all Hamilton artists!
ArtLab is featuring a special art display at the Global Art Fair showcasing student submitted art for a Ming Dynasty: A Faux Porcelain-Inspired Exhibit.
What is Ming dynasty porcelain?
Ming dynasty porcelain art is beautiful pottery with detailed designs, like blue dragons, Chinese gardens, traditional pagodas, and flowers. Made during the Ming dynasty, when one powerful family ruled China for over 300 years, this style of art used only blue and white to make amazing, detailed pieces that influenced China’s culture and traditions.
Art Requirements:
• Artists are allowed to submit a maximum of two pieces.
• Dimensional pieces are recommended such as vases, jars, or if you are feeling really creative, redesigning objects or products in the Ming dynasty style. While dimensional objects are preferred, we will accept paintings or drawings.
• All art must be in cobalt blue and white only to honor the ming dynasty porcelain style
• You may incorporate other symbols and art as long as you also include traditional style illustrations.
Art Tips & Guides:
• Click here for a guide on drawing ming dynasty pattern & illustrations
• When painting an object, apply 2–3 coats of white paint to create a smooth, solid base.
• Before adding any blue, lightly sketch your design in pencil to help prevent mistakes and guide your work.
• All artwork should use only cobalt blue and white to reflect the traditional style of Ming dynasty porcelain.
• If you're drawing over a painted white surface, we recommend using blue Sharpie markers—they give bold, clean lines and don’t smear like regular markers.
Remember to have fun and explore your creativity! :)
Art Submission Deadline:
