ArtLab is excited to showcase a special student art display at the Hamilton Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) on Friday, May 29th- and we want YOUR students involved!
This year’s theme, Mad Hat Makers Exhibit, invites students to design imaginative hats. They may build from scratch or upcycle an existing piece, drawing inspiration from London, Afternoon tea, English gardens, or the whimsical world of the Mad Hatter.
Please see the guidelines and details below. We can’t wait to see your students’ beautiful creations!

EXHIBIT GUIDELINES
Theme: Designs should be inspired by London, Afternoon Tea, English gardens, or the whimsical world of the Mad Hatter.
Hat Type: Top hats, fedoras, and baseball caps are preferred, as they fit best within our display space. Wide-brim sun hats are not recommended.
Display: Hats must be able to sit flat on a table.
Materials: Create from scratch using materials like cardboard, or upcycle an existing hat.
Size: Maximum 14” tall × 10” wide.
Teamwork (Optional): This project may be completed with a partner or team to encourage collaboration, shared creativity, and teamwork. Students may also choose to work independently.
Submission: Hats should be submitted between Tuesday, May 26 and Thursday, May 28 in the Hamilton lobby at the designated table. Hat drop-off is available anytime during school hours, including arrival and dismissal. ** Please do not bring hats before May 26 due to limited space.
Make sure each hat is securely constructed and labeled on the bottom with the student’s name, grade, and whether it should be returned after the show. ArtLab team members will collect hats from the table and store them safely.
Pickup: Hats may be picked up on Saturday, May 30th from 9:30–10:30 AM or during the following week. Please be sure to indicate on your submission label if you would like the hat returned so we can ensure it is sent home. All hats must be taken home by Friday, June 5th.
Photo Submission (Optional): Submit a photo of your student wearing their hat via the Google waiver form. Photos may be featured in our Hamilton lobby display for the school to see. Click here
