This Thursday, 5/22 - Art on The Mart Opening Ceremony

7:00pm: Participant arrival outside 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza (at The Mart River Park on the south drive of the Mart). Meet & greet with ART on THE MART staff and participants.

7:30pm: Private reception for participants and families/friends.

8:00pm: Cross as a group to the Riverwalk at the base of the staircase leading down from the northeast corner of Wacker and Franklin. Map attached.

8:30pm: Projection begins.

The projections and audio are best experienced from the Riverwalk location between Wells and Franklin street.

2025 Chicago Public Schools’ All-City Visual Arts and ART on THE MART Collaborative Exhibition: Drawn To Light

Now in its fifth season, All-City Visual Arts (ACVA) collaborates with ART on THE MART to highlight selected student artwork from across the city. This year, students worked with hand-drawn and digital animations as well as video footage for our first all-video exhibition, Drawn To Light. The program will run on the facade of Merchandise Mart Thursdays through Sundays at approximately 8:30pm from May 22-June 1, 2025. The program can be best viewed and heard from the Chicago Riverwalk Jetty between Wells and Franklin Street.

Come support our talented 5th graders as their artwork lights up the city at CPS’s Art on The Mart opening ceremony!

We’ll be meeting at the Paulina Brown Line train platform towards the Loop between 6:00pm-6:15pm  to ride downtown to the Merchandise Mart together. Families are responsible for CTA fare, and students must be with a parent to ride with the group.
